Ordering Loose LEGO® Parts: How to Find Exactly the Brick You're Missing
Ordering Loose LEGO® Parts: How to Find Exactly the Piece You’re Missing
You can order loose LEGO® parts by searching for the part number (found in the building instructions or on sites like BrickLink) or by color and shape. At De BrickPlaats in Oss, you can order loose parts individually online, and we’ll help you find missing pieces from a set.
A missing piece, a broken axle, or just one window too few: every LEGO® builder experiences this. Fortunately, you rarely need to buy an entire set again. In this guide, we explain how to order loose LEGO® parts, including by number, and what to watch out for.
What Are Loose LEGO® Parts?
Loose LEGO® parts are individual bricks, plates, tiles, technical pieces, and accessories that you buy separately instead of as a complete set. Each part has its own element number and usually comes in multiple colors. You order them to complete a set, build your own creation (MOC), or reserve for future projects.
How to Order LEGO® Parts by Number
Ordering by number is the fastest and most reliable way. Here’s how it works:
- Find the part number. This is in the original building instructions (at the back, in the parts list) or you can look it up by shape and color.
- Note the difference between design and element number. The design number determines the shape; the element number determines shape and color. You need the element number for the correct color.
- Search for the part in the collection using the LEGO ID or element number, or use the description if you don’t know the exact number.
- Check the color and quantity and proceed to checkout. Can’t figure it out? Send us the set number and the missing part, and we’ll look it up for you.

Ordering by Color and Shape (Without Number)
Don’t know the number? No problem. Describe the part as precisely as possible: the type (for example, “plate 2x4” or “sloped brick”), the exact color, and whether it’s a standard or technical part. Unsure about the color name? LEGO® uses its own color names (like “dark bluish gray”), so feel free to bring a photo when you visit the store or email us.
Loose Minifigures and Accessories
Not only bricks are sold separately. You can also order loose minifigures and accessories such as headgear, weapons, and tools separately. Handy if you’re missing a figure or want to create your own character.
