LEGO® from 1958
LEGO® 1958: an early chapter in the building system
In 1958, the LEGO® brick with the familiar tube principle on the underside appeared. Those collecting LEGO® from the 1950s will also find very different products from today's large building sets: small vehicles, simple building bricks, and accessories for a miniature world. This year collection brings together the available products from that period.
The year describes the collection's classification; it does not guarantee that every item offered is unused or still in its original packaging. Especially with vintage LEGO®, the design, color, and contents of the individual item are important.
From VW Van 258-2 to lighting and loose bricks
The LEGO® 258-2 VW Van is a small blue-and-white model in 1:87 scale. This van is a molded miniature vehicle, not a car built from bricks. This immediately tells you what type of collectible you are viewing.
Also included are LEGO® 245 Lighting Device Pack and LEGO® 218-2 with 2 × 4 bricks in this selection. There are also individual original boxes: an item with “Original box” in its name does not automatically include the corresponding bricks.
Focused collecting at De BrickPlaats
Compare the item with what you already have: are you looking for a vehicle, an addition to an old building system, or historical packaging? For lighting, check which parts are included and do not rely solely on a catalog image. The product description lists the contents offered and any noteworthy details.
For the next period, you can also view the LEGO® collection from 1969 . The stock of older items varies; a year page is therefore not a complete catalog of everything that appeared in that year.
